Here I have created
the mock-up of what I want my final magazine to look like. I have decided to
place the central image in the middle of the page so therefore I hope for it to
stand out from other magazines but then also look professional at the same
time. Instead of placing my masthead in a straight line at the top of the page
I have decided to place the masthead in a diagonal line. I have done this as I
feel it will work better with the theme of ‘rock’ but it also will look
different to other magazines that people could buy. Underneath the masthead I
will then place headings of information about the magazine. This will include
things such as the date of the magazine which will show if it is weekly or
monthly (I have decided for my magazine to be a monthly magazine because it will allow me to place more content into the magazine as it is not a gossip magazine) I then also placed the price of the magazine under the masthead as this is a very important
feature to have on the magazine. From doing my questionnaire I decided to price the magazine £1.99, I also feel like this is a reasonable price and not to expensive meaning people would hopefully buy the magazine and read the content. At the bottom of the magazine I then also
placed a barcode as every magazine should have one of these otherwise it would
be un-scan able. But it also adds to the professional look of the magazine. I
then also have decided to place a lot of cover-lines on the front of the
magazine. A cover-line Is when there is a sneak peak bit of gossip on the front
of the page which is there to try and engage the reader to buy the magazine and
then read all the magazine. I decided to place all the cover-lines directly
underneath each other as I feel this would look a lot more professional instead
of them being placed all over the magazine as it therefore could make my
magazine look messy. Underneath all of the cover-lines I have placed strap-lines which all give a sentence about what the whole article is about. To make my magazine stand out even more though from others I am going to make all the cover-lines and strap-lines different typography and sizes. I am going to do this as I feel it will look better on the page instead of boring. I then decided to place a main cover-line at the very
bottom of the page. This will be one of my biggest cover-lines as it will take
up the majority of the very bottom of the magazine. So far for this cover-line
I have thought up ideas such as including famous musicians and artists. I will
place this on a white background but in a big black font as I want my
cover-lines to stand out on the magazine and catch peoples attentions. On the right hand side of the magazine I am going to place another big cover-line. This one here will link in with the central image but also the article. I am also going to place a sell-line underneath this cover-line of probably an album that the central image would have created as from looking at different magazines they have also done this and it looks really good on the page. I am them going to place another sell-line at the top of the page for a competition as from doing my research I saw a lot of other magazines companies doing this but I also think that this will capture the eyes of people especially if I used a thumb nail image as well.
