The central image is very recognisable as the
model is a very famous celebrity ‘Katy Perry’ this straight away will make the
content page stand out as the image is very eye-catching and unique. The
picture is also quite unusual as the model is holding a mushroom in her hand,
however due to the fact it is on a white background the central image stands
out and the mushroom does look quite effective, it could also reflect on the
whole magazine as being quite quirky and fun. It also means that the image
doesn’t clash with the text as they both work really well together, especially
as one of main points on the typography says ‘Katy Perry’ which links directly
to the central image. The shot used on the model is a long shot; this means
that we can see the whole body of the model. I personally think this shot works
really well, especially the comparison between the height and width of the
mushroom in comparison to Katy Perry. There is also only one image on the page,
personally I believe this works really well as this will then be the main focus
of the reader’s attention. It also looks really professional and not over
crowded, the model is also looking directly into the camera which could also be
viewed as her looking directly into the reader’s eye. Personally I believe that
this looks really effective and professional. The colours of the model also
work really well together, especially as some of them are bright whereas the
others are the same colour as the background. This immediately draws the reader
straight to the model and makes her the main focus point on the page.
The masthead also stands out on the content page
as it is clear and bold. The colour of the font also works really well as it is
black and has been placed over a white background. The type of font also links
in with the quirkiness of the central image and people will immediately know
what the page is all about as the masthead is clear and presentable and in the
typical place at the top centre. The font Is also completely different to all the
other fonts on the page and I like how the font has been placed behind the
mushroom it looks really effective and it stands out.
The colours on the magazine also stand out and
work well together, especially how not that many colours have actually been
used meaning that where there are bright colours on the central image this is
very eye-catching. The colours also make the content page look very
professional looking and make the model stand out. The colour of the font also
works well together as it is black, this means that it is straight away easy to
read and doesn’t clash with anything else on the screen. I also like how all
the main typography is on the right hand side of the page but then also has the
key information in bold above the smaller body text. This could be really
effective as if someone was just skimming through the magazine they would
quickly be able to learn what information was inside the magazine. We also
learn from the magazine that it is a music magazine as all the bold fonts are
different well known music artists. A quote has also been used just below the
mushroom of the central image. This could capture the attention of people as it
is giving a small preview of what the actual article is all about. It also stands out and makes it look like a
key point as this is the only quote on the page. It is also in a different font
which adds to the professional look of the magazine.
Overall I really like this content page, I love
how the editor has used the minimum amount on the page but still makes it look
eye-catching and professional. I believe the target market for this magazine
would be people aged 16-30 because the magazine has a lot to offer inside of it
including all the latest gossip about different celebrities. It would also interest
people who listen to pop music. This content page has also helped me in
developing my knowledge about content pages and helped me come up with new,
different ideas about how I want my final content page to look. My favourite
part of the content page has to be the colours and the central image. Especially
how elegant Katy Perry looks, I also love the colours used on the central
image.
